In Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
DRC works so people, including children, have access to IHSS. IHSS gives people attendant care so they can live in the community instead of an institution. To learn more about our work in this area, keep reading.
Our Healthcare/Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) team works to ensure access to IHSS, a Medi-Cal funded service for people with disabilities, including children, which provides attendant care to enable recipients to live in the community rather than an institution.
In addition to providing advice and individual representation in administrative hearings and in court, we work on impact litigation, advocate with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to improve services, and participate with legal services partners to ensure IHSS recipients have the services they need, and access to tools that help them advocate for themselves.
“Protective supervision” is an IHSS service. It is to help if you need, because of your disability, watching 24 hours per day so you are not injured. This pub tells you who can get it and how to get it. It tells you what to do if the county does not give it to you.
