The Roadmap with ACE: All About CalAble Accounts
CalABLE (California Achieving a Better Life Experience) is a tax-advantaged savings and investment program for individuals with disabilities. It allows eligible individuals to save money for disability-related expenses without losing access to public benefits like Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Medi-Cal.
Know Your Rights: Support Animals in Housing
Assistance animals are wonderful helpers and companions for people with disabilities, but the process of keeping one in your home can be stressful. Join DRC’s Equal Access and Housing Practice Group as we discuss Californians’ rights to have assistance animals in their homes because of their disabilities.

The Roadmap with ACE: Social Recreation Services Through Regional Centers
This training will help you understand how social recreation services through the Regional Center can support you or your loved one with developmental disabilities. Social recreation includes fun, community-based activities like camping, sports, art classes, and more. These activities help build friendships, improve social skills, and support inclusion in the community. Under the Lanterman Act, Regional Centers can now pay for these services if they are needed and no other options are available.

Esta capacitación le ayudará a comprender cómo los servicios de recreación social del Centro Regional puede apoyarle a usted o a su ser querido con discapacidades del desarrollo. Esta capacitación le ayudará a comprender su derecho a apelar las decisiones tomadas por su Centro Regional, especialmente si le han negado servicios, los ha reducido o si se le ha declarado no elegible. This training will help you understand your right to appeal decisions made by your Regional Center—especially if you’ve been denied services, had services reduced, or were found ineligible. The Fair Hearing process is how you can formally challenge those decisions. While the system can feel confusing and overwhelming, this training will break it down step by step.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a California program that helps low-income individuals who are aged, blind, or disabled stay safely in their own homes instead of moving to a care facility. IHSS provides support like help with bathing, cooking, cleaning, and more.
La Ruta Con ACE: Todo sobre Los Servicios de Apoyo en el Hogar (por sus siglas en inglés, IHSS)
Los Servicios de Apoyo en el Hogar (IHSS) es un programa de California que ayuda a personas de bajos ingresos, como personas mayores, ciegas o con discapacidad, a permanecer de forma segura en sus hogares en lugar de tener que mudarse a un centro de atención. IHSS ofrece apoyo, como ayuda para bañarse, cocinar, limpiar y más.

Esta capacitación le ayudará a prepararse para su evaluación inicial de IHSS, su evaluación/reevaluación anual o incluso una audiencia si necesita impugnar una decisión. Aprenderá a explicar claramente sus necesidades y a asegurarse de recibir la cantidad correcta de horas de servicio.
