abuse and neglect

DRC launched a project to investigate conditions at Adelanto Detention Center, the largest civil immigration detention center in California, in early 2018. We completed our investigation and issued a report on March 5. Our inspection found discrimination against people with disabilities. The detention center offers counter-therapeutic conditions that harm people with disabilities, and inadequate mental health and medical treatment. DRC’s investigators discovered underreporting of suicide attempts at Adelanto, hindering adequate public and government oversight.
