Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Office of Clients' Rights Advocacy (OCRA) with Us

How far we’ve come.

2024 is the 25-year anniversary of the Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy (OCRA) providing independent advocacy services for Regional Center clients! In honor of this milestone, OCRA is holding open house events to celebrate with you!

Before OCRA was founded 25 years ago, Regional Centers were responsible for providing advocacy services for clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Regional Center clients and other advocates fought for a change in the law to transfer the clients’ rights advocacy services to an independent agency to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. Disability Rights California applied for and was selected to be the independent agency to provide clients’ rights advocacy services to all 21 of California’s Regional Centers.

Let’s Celebrate

Everyone is invited, particularly Regional Center clients, families, service providers, and Regional Center staff. You can meet OCRA staff, connect and share stories with each other, and enjoy snacks and refreshments.

Since the COVID pandemic has reduced opportunities to see one another in person, this is a good opportunity to reconnect with your local advocate and others!

Activities will include a program featuring the presentation of a self-advocacy award.
