Calling for Community Testimony!

The federal government has defunded the Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, leaving students with disabilities and their parents without a meaningful way to file discrimination complaints against schools and have their concerns addressed.

The DRC Legal Advocacy Unit's Youth Practice Group is aiming to amplify the voices of students with disabilities and their families. We're collecting stories of disability discrimination that students have experienced in schools, as well as stories of students receiving inadequate special education supports and services.

Our goal is to share these testimonies with elected officials, government employees, the media, or for general outreach via our website or social media to emphasize the critical need for civil rights enforcement for students with disabilities at this challenging time.

Please send us your story of mistreatment or discrimination due to disability that you or your loved one has experienced in school. We are also seeking stories of students receiving inadequate special education supports and services at school.

We are happy to receive audio or written testimonials if you wish to remain anonymous, but we especially welcome video stories.
