Are you a person with disabilities that needs to make changes to your housing rules or to your home’s physical structures to make it more accessible? Please join us at this workshop to learn about your rights to do so.

About the workshop:

Tenants with disabilities have strong housing rights and there are specific rules that housing providers must follow to accommodate them. Join us to learn about your right to ask for a “reasonable accommodation” or “reasonable modification” – adjustments to rules, policies, services, and even the physical layout of your home to make it more accessible for you. We will review best practices, discuss potential costs, and go over what to expect once you have made your requests.

If you still have questions about your [workshop topic] issue after the event, you may have a chance for a private 15-minute consultation with a DRC team member. Consultations are limited and are not guaranteed. Instructions will be given at the workshop.

Interpretation will be provided if requested at least 1 week before the event date.

Speakers:

Kristen Evans is a Staff Attorney with Equal Access and Housing and will host this workshop. Equal Access and Housing (EAH) is a small team of advocates, social workers, and attorneys providing free limited, short-term legal services on housing issues to people with disabilities throughout California. We believe that sharing knowledge and connecting people to resources will empower people with disabilities to be able to make the best housing decisions for themselves.
