ACR 165 (Grayson) – Support - Down Syndrome Awareness

This resolution would proclaim March 18 to March 24, 2018, as California Down Syndrome Awareness Week and March 21, 2018, as California Down Syndrome Day, and would encourage all Californians to support and participate in related activities.

ACR 172 (Low) – Support - LGBT Apology

This resolution apologizes for the enactment of past discriminatory laws and constitutional provisions that resulted in the persecution and oppression of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their communities.

This resolution declares June 6, 2018 as California Nonprofits Day, in recognition of the importance of nonprofit organizations to the economy and well-being of this state.

As a leader of the civil rights movement, Dr. King’s work and legacy not only advanced the rights of African-Americans, but also assisted in setting the stage for other civil rights activities and movements, including those that advanced the civil rights of people with disabilities and other minority communities.

ACR 237 (Cooley) – Support - Foster Care Month

This bill would declare the month of May 2018 as Foster Care Month. There are currently 62,644 California children and youth in foster care. Nearly half require special education and physical and behavioral health related services to succeed in school.

This bill would proclaim the month of June 2018 as Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month in California, and state the importance of annually recognizing Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month.
