Public Policy Platform
Our public policy platform is a description of our public policy work during the year. We will protect civil rights, benefits and services.
We will monitor the state budget. We will work to stop future cuts and restore prior cuts. We will work to keep and increase funding for our Office of Clients’ Rights Advocacy and California Office of Patients’ Rights.
We will work on bills introduced by others consistent with our public policy principles. For more information, please read the documents below.
2021 Public Policy Platform
Consistent with the adopted Disability Rights California (DRC) Advocacy Platform, the DRC Public Policy Platform recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic radically changed our lives over the course of mere weeks. It has highlighted structural problems in our healthcare, housing, and justice systems that have led to disproportionate harm to California’s Black, Latino, Native American, and Asian Pacific Islander communities which intersect with persons with disabilities

Budget Advocacy:
We will provide budget advocacy to protect needed benefits and services. We will monitor the state budget, work to avoid future cuts and restore prior service reductions. This could include advocating for proposals to repeal service limitations adopted as part of the state fiscal crisis.
