About the webinar:

This series of workshops will help tenants with disabilities to understand their basic rights and what steps to take to get safe and habitable housing. We will discuss examples of habitability problems and what tenants can do to make sure the housing provider maintains the property and gives tenants a safe place to live.

After the workshop, a limited number of attendees can do a 15-minute consultation with someone on our team about specific legal questions for their housing situation. This will be available for tenants with disabilities only.

NOTE: Though service providers are welcome, this workshop is designed for tenants with disabilities and the focus will be their questions and perspectives.

Speakers:

Kawai Daugherty (she/her) is a staff attorney for the Housing Stability Project Program at Disability Rights California. Her focus is on disability rights in housing and subsidized housing issues. In previous positions, Ms. Daugherty worked defending individuals’ rights to make their own health decisions who were in county mental health facilities.
