Disability Rights California Appreciates the Governor’s Approach to COVID-19 To Protect Vulnerable Populations

On February 10, 2022, the Governor signed SB 115, an "early budget action that invests $1.9 billion to supplement vaccination and testing efforts, support workers, strengthen the health care system and combat misinformation.”

Disability Rights California recognizes and appreciates the Governor’s no-nonsense approach to combating COVID-19 and we are grateful that our State is encouraging the continuing use of masks and other mitigating measures to protect vulnerable populations during this next phase of the pandemic.

Thanks to the leadership of our Governor and legislative leaders, we now have funding to enhance our testing and vaccination efforts, support frontline workers, strengthen our health care systems and battle dangerous misinformation. Today’s announcement coupled with the package of bills that were passed by the Legislature and signed by the Governor last week reflect the Legislature and Governor’s commitment to tackling this pandemic head-on.

drc looks forward to working with our legislative leaders and the Governor to ensure the health and wellbeing of our families and communities, including those with disabilities and older Californians.

Moving forward, we hope our State continues to consider the unique needs of immunocompromised individuals as we balance business needs with public health requirements.
