Webinar: Just in Case: The Benefits of Having a Mental Health Crisis Prevention and Intervention Plan

Making our own decisions about our mental health treatment empowers us to live healthy independent lives. Although we rarely anticipate or want to experience a mental health crisis, it could happen when we least expect it. That is why it is important to plan ahead and decide what would help us get through difficult moments before a crisis takes place.

About the webinar:

There are times when we may not be able to make our own treatment decisions during a mental health crisis. Communication and cooperation are key elements in creating a Mental Health Crisis Prevention and Intervention Plan. Developing our own plan provides us an opportunity to explain our treatment wishes in the event we are not able to make decisions for ourselves. It also lets our loved ones and care professionals know what to do to help us during a crisis.

Come join us as we discuss:

  • The importance of starting a crisis prevention conversation with our loved ones and care professionals
  • Self-care tips to prevent a crisis
  • How to identify early warning signs based on our past experiences and physical and mental health symptoms
  • Guidelines to help develop a Mental Health Crisis Prevention and Intervention Plan
  • What can be done in an extreme emergency?

Speaker:

Jesse Gilbert (they/them/theirs) is a hearing person with lived experience navigating the mental health system.
