In 2025, facing a challenging political and economic climate at all levels of government, DRC remained steadfast in our commitment to our mission, vision and values. We monitored and exposed abuses in immigration detention centers and a government-supported hospital designed to serve people with complex and challenging behaviors; worked to protect Californians with disabilities who rely on Medicaid, In-Home Supportive Services, and Regional Center Services to live and thrive in the community; continued to push back on the bipartisan increasingly coercive and carceral approaches to homelessness coming from all levels of government; and obtained results for thousands of clients in administrative hearings and in the courts.

In the year when we marked the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the 50th anniversary of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act, DRC remained a strong voice for the bipartisan goals that underlie these critical laws: equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency.
