Senator Dianne Feinstein

Disability Rights California mourns the passing of Senator Dianne Feinstein. A leader, who opened doors for so many, Senator Feinstein served the people of California for over 50 years, including as the first woman to be Mayor of San Francisco, the first woman elected as a United States Senator of California, and was the longest serving woman in the United States Senate.

Senator Feinstein took on the issue of gun violence prevention and led on civil and human rights issues for decades. We thank Senator Feinstein for supporting the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008.

By breaking barriers and shattering glass ceilings, she inspired Californians with her courage and leadership. She was truly a political giant and will be missed.
