Catherine Blakemore is DRC’s Executive Director. She previously worked as DRC’s Director of Litigation and the Managing Attorney of the Los Angeles office. Before joining us, Catherine was an attorney with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles and the Disability Rights Legal Center.
Catherine received her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles.
Her work as an attorney was in the area of special education. She continues to work as one of the lawyers in the Chanda Smith vs. Los Angeles Unified School District case. She is the Vice Chair of the California Commission on Access to Justice, which seeks to improve access to courts and administrative agencies for low-income and modest means Californians. She also served, in the past, as president of the National Disability Rights Network.
