*This page will be updated as more information is made available

Economic impact or stimulus payments start in the next 3 weeks as of April 1, 2020.

Most people will get them without doing anything. If you don’t normally pay taxes however, you will need to send in a form to get the payment.

Can I get the payment if I don’t pay taxes because I am on SSI or SSDI?

Yes.  If you get SSDI, Social Security, or Railroad Retirement benefits you don’t have to do anything to get the payment.  Note: If you have dependents (like children or a parent you take care of) you should go to this website so you can see if you are eligible for additional payment:https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here

If you get SSI, you should go to this website to find out how to get the payment: https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here

What if I don’t have a bank account?

This website may be able to help you:

Will the payment affect my Medi-Cal, SSI, SSDI, CalWORKS, CalFresh (food stamps), Section 8 or other income-related government benefits?

No. The payment will not count as income and will also not be counted as a resource for 12 months for these programs or any other state or federal program funded in whole or in part with federal funds.

Do I need to pay taxes on the payment?

No.
