Every year, there is a national consumer conference for current and former mental health clients. This year, in collaboration with National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery (NCMHR), the 2020 Peerpocalypse Conference will be held at the Seaside Civic and Convention Center in Seaside, Oregon from April 20-23, 2020.

Disability Rights California (DRC) has provided scholarships for people with mental health disabilities interested in attending the conference and sharing information that they learn at the conference with others. The scholarship award covers the registration fee, lodging, transportation costs to and from the conference, and a meal allowance for meals not included as part of the conference registration.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Disability Rights California PAIMI Advisory Council would review all applications. Preference will be given to individuals who:

  • Need financial assistance in order to attend the conference;
  • Have not attended an Alternatives Conference before;
  • Have participated in a Peer Self-Advocacy Group lead by DRC; and/or
  • Who reside in rural counties.

Individuals who wish to be considered for a scholarship must complete the application form and return to Disability Rights California no later than Friday, March 13, 2020.

After attending the conference, scholarship recipients will be asked to join a meeting of the DRC PAIMI Advisory Council, provide a description of what they learned at the conference, and indicate how they will share information learned with other clients in their community.
