SB 555 (Correa 2013) Language Access in the Regional Center System

SB 555 ensures that regional centers meet their obligations to provide consumers from diverse communities with appropriate language access.

As recipients of state and federal dollars, regional centers must comply with state and federal laws. If they do not comply with existing law, regional centers risk losing $48,021,0001 in federal funding. SB 555 makes clear that regional centers have obligations to comply with Part C of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 USC. Sec.1400 et seq.) and California Government Code sections 11135-11139.7 and their implementing regulations.
