The City of Pasadena has made plans to update features in public places, from curb ramps to the Rose Bowl recreation area, so people with disabilities can use them safely and conveniently.
A draft of a comprehensive transition plan is now available for public review. It provides coordination of updates to 13 individual existing plans for parks, parking structures, public libraries, community centers, fire stations and municipal buildings in the civic center.
Additional facilities covered by the plan include Pasadena television studios, El Centro de Accion Social and the Public Works building at City Yards.
The comprehensive plan brings 13 individual plans under one roof for easier access and to help assess recommended priorities, corrective actions, and cost estimates, in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. The law requires local governments give people with disabilities an equal opportunity to benefit from all of their programs, services and activities.
The draft plan is available for review at Central Library, 285 E. Walnut St.; City Clerk’s Office, 100 N. Garfield Ave., S228; and on the Web site at www.cityofpasadena.net/ADAtransitionplan.
The public is encouraged to make comments on the plan at the Accessibility and Disability Commission meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 at City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room S038 (basement); or direct comments by May 20 to Cathy Chang, Project Manager, 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room N306, P.O. Box 7115, Pasadena, CA 91109; or cathychang@cityofpasadena.net.
