The governor's budget cut-backs suffer another blow.
A federal judge has ruled against a plan to stop in-home caregiver services to disabled and low-income residents.
In order to help balance the state budget, lawmakers approved cutting $82 million from the In-Home Supportive Services program starting November 1st.
The judge wants further hearings to be conducted on how the state determines who gets dropped from the program or who has their hours reduced.
Approximately 40,000 low-income seniors and people with disabilities would have lost all their IHSS help, including personal care; another 90,000 would have lost such services as meal preparation and help with laundry and housecleaning.
