Disability Rights California outlines best practices for Purchase of Services (POS) by regional centers

As a result of the state's ongoing fiscal crisis, the Department of Developmental Services is being required to cut $174 million dollars in state dollars from its budget for services for people with developmental disabilities. This does not include the loss of federal matching money. You may find additional information about the budget impacting people with disabilities here.

To achieve these additional reductions in community services, DDS is in the process of developing, for the first time, statewide Purchase of Services Best Practices. In the past each regional center developed Purchase of Service Standards. Read details about the committees for POS here.
